Bethan lives a dual life. In working hours she’s a Lecturer in Renewable Energy, but she spends her spare time writing. When she needs an escape from both, she finds the nearest lido.

 

Research Bio:

Bethan Charles graduated from Durham University with a Master of Physics. She then worked as a business analyst in the energy sector before completing a Master of Research and PhD in Sustainable Chemical Technologies at the University of Bath, researching structure-property relationships in the photoactive layers of emerging photovoltaics. Afterwards, she worked at the University of Cambridge where she researched solar energy harvesting devices. In November 2022, she joined the University of Bristol as a Lecturer in Renewable Energy where she is investigating sustainable solar device design. Find her on LinkedIn or @DrBethanCharles.

 

Writing Bio:

Bethan writes historical and speculative fiction. Her stories often focus on underrepresented voices in science and mythology. She has won Globe Soup’s international short story competition, a Page Turner Writing Mentorship Award, and was shortlisted for the prestigious Rhys Davies Short Story Award. Her words appear in Globe Soup, The Copperfield Review, and Sundial Magazine. She lives in Wales. Find her @BLCharlesWrites.
